The Tattooed Nerd method
01
Start with the room.
Your space, workflow, computer, and goals determine the system—not whatever gear is trending this week.
02
Make every piece work together.
Camera, light, sound, mounting, power, automation, and software have to operate as one reliable setup.
03
Make simple the standard.
A great studio is one you can turn on, trust, and use immediately without checking every setting before every call or recording.

Planning an equipment upgrade?
For a Guided Studio Build or White-Glove project, explore the Good and Great studio systems. The Base package works with what you already own and requires no equipment purchases.
Base requires no new equipment purchases. For Pro and VIP, equipment purchases are separate from Patrick's planning, guidance, and setup services.
Do I have to replace what I already own?+
No. The process begins with your current room and equipment. Anything that already works well becomes part of the plan.
Can every studio really work with one button?+
Most studios can be dramatically simplified. The exact automation depends on your existing equipment, power, computer, and applications. Your plan identifies what can be automated and which compatible components are needed.
Which package should I choose?+
Choose Base to improve what you already own without an equipment budget, Pro for equipment planning and virtual build guidance, or VIP for Patrick to build and test the system onsite.
What does “starting at” mean for VIP?+
The $1,599 starting price covers the defined studio planning and one onsite setup day. Patrick can come to clients in the Charleston, South Carolina area. For projects outside the area, travel and lodging accommodations are paid by the client. Unusually complex installations and additional visits are quoted separately.
Built from real broadcast and studio experience.
Why Patrick
Decades behind the camera.
Patrick Kelley is a technology architect, speaker, author, creator, and the person behind Tattooed Nerd.
His career has taken him through Disney, ESPN, Microsoft, and Zoom—across movie sets, sports broadcasts, elite conferencing rooms, and purpose-built home studios.
Patrick has helped thousands of professionals through LinkedIn and YouTube feel more confident and credible on camera. He combines broadcast craft with years of designing systems that have to work every time, so the finished studio is dependable for both high-stakes meetings and serious content creation.
The goal is not more equipment. It is a system that disappears when the camera turns on, so you can focus on the conversation, presentation, or story.
