Patrick Kelley, the Tattooed Nerd
Professional communication starts with a dependable setup.

A career spent making communication work.

My experience spans more than 25 years across enterprise communications, broadcast technology, conferencing and studio systems. That career has included work involving Disney and ESPN, 12 years at Microsoft, and my current role as a Distinguished Architect at Zoom.

I spend a lot of time helping people understand how Zoom and Microsoft Teams can work together, and how to choose technology around the way people actually work. The same thinking shapes my studio guidance: start with the problem, understand the room, and build a dependable workflow.

A studio I use every day.

My own studio is where I record, host meetings, teach, troubleshoot equipment and create content. Cameras, lighting, microphones and controls have to work together. A setup that takes too much effort to start gets in the way of using it.

Through Tattooed Nerd, I share practical instruction for professional meetings, LinkedIn and YouTube content, webinars and video podcasts. You can explore my published work on YouTube and LinkedIn.

What I help people improve.

  • Camera positioning, framing and consistent settings.
  • Lighting that fits the room and the person on camera.
  • Microphone placement, clear speech and everyday audio.
  • Professional meeting and recording workflows.
  • Compatible equipment and one-touch studio control.

Start with what you already own.

You can often make a useful improvement by moving a light, raising a camera or bringing a microphone closer. The current-equipment guide walks through those fundamentals. The On-Camera Playbook gives you a fuller improvement path.

When you want help with your room, the $299 Studio Blueprint focuses on the equipment you already own. The Guided Studio Build adds personalized equipment planning and virtual setup guidance; the White-Glove Studio adds onsite work.
